Compartmentalization
Types of Fire Compartmentalization
WALL AND CEILING PLATE SYSTEM
HOW DOES THE COMPARTMENTATION BY PARTITIONS AND CEILINGS WORK?
To facilitate vertical sectoring, PEFIPRESA proposes the installation of high mechanical strength lightweight sandwich panels.
This system offers advantages compared to traditional partitions since it is easy to handle, clean, lightweight, adapts to small spaces, etc., and is especially recommended for both renovations, new builds, in industrial buildings, open spaces that need sectorization and for walls in unprotected areas.
The partition system is made of a galvanized sheet frame that follows the assembly design and is marked with the manufacturer’s fire test. The fibro silicate plates, laminated gypsum, etc. are screwed to the sides, presenting a smooth finish suitable for various finishing treatments.
In turn, it allows the installations to be fitted with a combination of fireproof sealing as well as fire doors and glass.
As they do not emit toxic gases during combustion, it ensures the occupants can be in the space temporarily during the evacuation.
This system is also used in dry lining to improve the fire resistance of existing vertical structures.
The systems composed of metal framing and plates, can also be used in flooring, improving the characteristics of resistant in order to obtain a correct sectorization and not only in vertical elements so also in horizontal elements.
FLOOR PROTECTION WITH MORTAR PROJECTIONS
HOW IT WORKS
This solution is applicable to all types of floor slabs: new builds, renovations, corrugated iron, reticular slabs, etc.
Similar to protecting other structures, for steel, it is also possible to use various types of high durability mortar, applied by projecting the material through pneumatic machines. It can be installed without reinforcement mesh, although PEFIPRESA recommends its use to obtain large thicknesses, in special cases of adhesion and for specific work conditions. Certain finishing products can be used, under the manufacturer’s specifications.
It adapts to any base without cracks or breakage, provided that the support surface is in optimal condition.
The characteristics of implementing this product make it an advantageous system as the application process is time efficient.
STRIPS OF FORGED-FACADE AND DIVIDING WALL-ROOF
HOW IT WORKS
Current regulation requires the risk of external propagation is limited both horizontally and vertically through the enclosure or framework between two fire sectors and through the facade.
This limitation is achieved by installing a strip system that acts as a flame deflector, preventing or delaying the propagation through to the other side of the dividing wall or framework and forged.
In order to solve this, PEFIPRESA proposes a supporting structure made from metallic framework and materials such as fibro silicate plates and laminated gypsum to give the required fire resistance.
Through various construction solutions, we can adapt to the requirements and provide well tested fire protection options to the buildings.
WICKET AND SPECIAL FIRE DOORS
HOW DOES FIRE DOORS WORK
PEFIPRESA carries out the installation of all types of fire doors (wicket doors, doors for vehicle access, etc.).
They consist of two steel plates where the internal matrix is composed of different fireproof materials such as rock wool, fireproof plate in various thicknesses.
PEFIPRESA, with its strong knowledge of fire protection systems, it optimises the interaction between both passive protection elements and the detection and alarm systems in active fire protection.
In any event, these elements can be manually, semi-automatic and automatically operated.
The closure systems are supplied and installed with various components and accessories, all of which are aimed at meeting our customers’ needs, and furthermore the regulatory and testing requirements.
SECTORIZATION SYSTEMS WITH TEXTILE AUTOMATIC CURTAINS
HOW IT WORKS
PEFIPRESA recommends the use of automatic curtains by means of sectoring. Whilst they are innovative, they also have a wide aesthetic range and considerably reduce the space necessary for compartmentalisation. This solution is widely used in shopping centres and open logistical warehouses.
It consists of a textile barrier made of fiberglass stitched with steel wire, which is rolled and remains inside a practicable drawer. The system also has a cooling device that guarantees appropriate thermal insulation. The detection and alarm systems play a critical role, since they trigger the sequence of the operation of all elements.
When the barrier remains drawn, the space it occupies is minimal, being able to even incorporate the material within the wall to create a completely integrated and invisible system.
PEFIPRESA as a specialist in essential fire protection, it delivers assurance in the utilisation of all its systems including these that are unconventional.
CLOSURE SYSTEMS IN CONVENYOR PASSAGE AREAS
HOW IT WORKS
Systems manufactured according to the needs and characteristics of the project, ensure closure and safe compartmentalisation in case of fire. It is widely used in the industrial sector where, in general, conveyor systems are often used to transport goods.
There are very diverse solutions for this specific purpose: from rigid guillotine or sliding doors, textile barriers to fixtures under conveyors. They are made to measure to guarantee they fit and can be adapted according to the needs of the installation.
PEFIPRESA, as a company that offers fundamental solutions in fire protection, it optimises the synergy between active and passive protection measures, by combining this solution to its detection and alarm systems of active fire protection. By this, it guarantees well-functioning closures, offering the possibility to operate and supervise the operations the general central fire protection system.
GLASS PARTITIONS
HOW IT WORKS
In this group we can include doors, windows and fire-resistant glass panels, which can be manufactured in large dimensions with specific metal profiles, tested and come with a range of RAL finishes to choose from.
They have maximum transparency and require minimal structural support which allows good structural integration, whilst achieving a high resistance to fire.
In each piece of wall and profiles panels and their characteristics are made to measure in order to fit into an already existing space, unlocking a wide range of possible solutions.
It is a highly recommended system for both renovation and new builds, in industrial buildings, shopping centres and offices, which require extra aesthetic care.
